How do we learn ?
A quick look into how the mind copes with the new and strange..

It's said we learn at a faster rate as a child than at any other time in our lives. I believe this is down to two main
reasons. A: We are open to new ideas with out fear doubt or prejudgment. B: We make an awful
lot of mistakes and have to repeat until we get it right. Repartition, repartition
When we learn a new skill the mind must make new connections. Making these connections memory is not an instant
process many reparatitions must be made to generate these memories. The repartitions must be performed at
a speed that the mind can comprehend and without stress or tension or the mind will learn this as part of the pattern.
Points to note:We remember; 10% of what we read 20% of what we hear 30% of what
we see 50% of what we hear and see 70% of what we say 90% of what we say and do So
it's clear from this list that if we sound out the parts we are trying to perform we will get there quicker. To
finalise by combining our senses we can learn more efficiently. So next time you see a drummer sniffing his snare
whilst playing a new part you will know what he is doing............ Looking very stupid !!
